DNA/OSO BJJ at the Inaugural Durham Classic BJJ Event in Whitby




The inaugural Durham Classic BJJ event at the Abilities Center in Whitby was a spectacle to behold, showcasing the indomitable spirit and skill of local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. Among the standout performers were the members of the DNA/OSO crew, whose remarkable display of talent and dedication left an indelible mark on the competition.

The event saw a plethora of competitors from various academies, with many stepping onto the mats for their first taste of competitive BJJ. For the DNA/OSO team, it was a chance to demonstrate their prowess and passion for the sport, and they did not disappoint.

Led by our seasoned black belt Coach Rich Bondoc, the DNA/OSO crew represented with ferocity and finesse. From the 5 year old kids to the adult/masters, each member fought with heart and determination, leaving it all on the mat. The camaraderie and support among teammates were palpable, creating an atmosphere of unity and encouragement.

Among the highlights were the numerous podium finishes secured by the DNA/OSO competitors. From gold to bronze, the team showcased their depth and talent across various divisions. Notable performances included Shaylynn, who clinched double gold, and Skylar, who fought valiantly despite facing adversity in a higher weight class. Each victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by both the athletes and all of their coaches.


The success of the DNA/OSO crew extended beyond individual achievements, as they also claimed top honors in the team awards. Our affiliation, the Jiujitsu for life team, emerged as the overall champions.
